I believe that anybody who professes to be a Christian should be a Success. If you are a born-again believer in Christ then you should be experiencing Success in every area of your life: physically, mentally, financially, relationally, spiritually, emotionally, ministerially and otherwise. Every area of your life should reflect that you are a Success. Unfortunately, we know of a lot of professing believers that are not experiencing Success. Christians who've been divorced (on multiple occasions), Christians who are sick in their body (chronic sickness, not just a cold), Christians who are financially depleted (the secular term is "broke"). You have preachers and ministers of the Gospel whose ministries are not being blessed, not growing, not being productive and effective. But yet these people believe in God and have confessed Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. What's the problem? The problem is that even though a person may be saved and a believer in Christ, if you don't have The Key to Success, you will not be success-ful. If a person has a personal relationship with God, they should have Success in their life, every area of their life. But you have to use The Key to Success.
God gives the Key to Success in the first chapter of the Book of Joshua. When God lays out the Key to Success, it is when the children of Israel are about to embark upon the Promised Land. Let me say very quickly, you will not have success in God staying comfortable where you are. You must reach for the Divine Destiny (God's Promised Land for your life) that God has prepared and ordained for your life. Otherwise, you will not experience Success (and if you do, I guarantee you, it won't last). So what is the Key? The first thing God says is to Be Strong and of a Good Courage. There are too many saints that are weak: spiritually weak, emotionally weak, mentally weak, physically weak. You can't have Success and be weak. Everybody has weaknesses, areas in our lives that represent more of a liability than an asset. But when you are strong, you don't let your weaknesses, or your past, or your circumstances or your environment, keep you from where God has ordained you to be. Too many Christians have too many excuses. This is not the Will of God. Then God says be of Good Courage. We have too many saints that are scared. Scared to take a risk, scared to take a stand, scared to stand out, scared to go against the crowd, scared to move out of their comfort zone. Once again saints, in order to have Success in God, you have to release and relinquish that spirit of fear. Fear will paralyze you. And when it does it will keep you stuck in the wilderness instead of flourishing in the Promised Land. Release that spirit of fear (2Timothy 1).
Lastly, God says that we have to read His Word. He tells Joshua, "This Book of the Law...thou shalt meditate therein day and night...then thou shalt have good success". There are still too many Christians that don't read the Word, the Bible, everyday. If your spiritual diet still consists of a weekly Sunday morning sermon, I already know your walk with Christ is weak at best. We need more than that. We've got to get into the Word. This is the only way that our minds are going to be renewed (Romans 12). This is the only way that we're going to be able to "think like God". It is imperative saints. If we incorporate these biblical principles, God will be Faithful to bless us with The Key to Success.
