The Selflessness of Salvation

There is a mystery that The Lord is beginning to reveal to me, that I believe is key to experiencing the ministry for which God has called one to fulfill, and allowing God to receive, what I would like to describe as, The Maximum Glory in your life. In case you didn't know, not everyone who answers a Divine Call and faithfully serves God in ministry, is properly postured and positioned for God to receive The Maximum Glory in their lives and in their calling. I believe this phenomenon is more the norm than not because the church as a whole, including Ministers of the Gospel, have not embraced The Selflessness of Salvation.

One of the biggest problems of the church that hinders our witness to the world is our preoccupation with sin. As I've stated on numerous occasions, the problem in the church is not sin. It's a problem for the world, but not for the church. Why? Because if you're a member of the church, a born-again believer in Christ, then your sins have been forgiven by the shed Blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1). When you get saved, your sins are no longer an issue for God. I know that sounds heretical, but it's the truth. I didn't say God doesn't have a problem with you "sinning". That's another issue. But in terms of the sins you commit, all of that was resolved at Calvary, where Jesus died on the Cross for the sins of the world. So once again, your sins are not the problem. But your self is. That's why Jesus said that if any man would come after Him, the first thing they must do is deny themselves (Matthew 16).

Saints, our problem is not with our sins, the problem is with our Self and the lack of denial thereof. The only reason you sin the way you do is because of your infatuation and addiction to your Self. The reason we know that this is the case is because when we do sin (if you're a born-again believer in Christ) you're convicted by the Holy Ghost of the sin you committed, no matter how good you felt when you were doing it (John 16). But we "just can't stop", can we? And we think the problem is that particular sin. Wrong saints. It's your Self-Absorption.

But here's the mystery we miss as the children of God. We were never supposed to operate in Self in the first place. Now mind you, if you've been in the church for any length of time, then you already know that we weren't supposed to operate in sin. That's why Jesus came to "save us from our sins". And to all of this, we say Amen. But did you know that Jesus came also to save us from our Self? Not just sin, but Self. Let me say it again, we were not created to operate in Self, we were created to operate in God. And when one chooses to operate in Self versus operating in God, the result is sin. Remember, when Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, there was no sin nor sinful nature in the human race. What allowed Adam to disobey God was his preoccupation with Self. Saints, we need to pray that God will deliver us from Self, not just sin (because He's already done that) and that He will give us Grace and Revelation to embrace The Selflessness of Salvation.
