Preparation for the Assignment

God will prepare us for what He has called us to do.
Probably the greatest example of preparation for the assignment was Jesus. When Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness after His baptism at the Jordan, the purpose of this forty-day period was preparation. Part of the lesson in this is that if Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, had to go through preparation for what the Father had called Him to do, it should go without saying that we as mere mortals will have to go through a preparation process as well. A lot of ministries and callings have been prematurely aborted or thwarted in large part because of a lack of preparation on the part of the minister. We, like our Saviour, must go through the preparation process.

Let's first look at the rationale for the preparation process. Why would Jesus, the Son of God, have to go through divine preparation for His assignment? Because every call of God requires character adjustment. Whether you know it or not, you're not ready for what it is that God has called and assigned you to do. I'm sure that doesn't come as a surprise to many, but the real part is, you don't know what's actually lacking for which you need development and preparation in order to fulfill God's Divine assignment for you in this next season. This is why the preparation process is mandatory. Even Jesus had to go through preparation as a man, in order to effectively fulfill His Kingdom assignment. So we must understand what the "process" is for.

We also want to explore the prelude to the preparation. Before Jesus was led by the Spirit into the preparation process, He was first baptized. Why is this significant? Because there has to be an immersion in the things of God before there is qualification to be responsible for handling the matters of the Kingdom. There are still too many Christians, preachers included, that are trying to "play it safe" with God. They still won't SELL OUT. They're still holding on to that little bit of flesh, that little bit of security, that little bit of self-appeasing, because they haven't reached for the Kingdom with wholesale reckless abandon.

If you're still holding on to a piece of yourself, then saints, you're not ready for the Kingdom
movement. This doesn't mean that God can't and won't use you, but He won't be able to use you at the level for which the Kingdom of God and the manifestation thereof operates. You've got to get immersed, you have to experience a spiritual baptism before you're ready to experience the preparation process.
